The Kansas City Chiefs are making an immediate adjustment to their special teams unit by adding potential competition at kicker.
According to Kansas City Star columnist Sam McDowell, the Chiefs are signing 8-time All-Pro kicker Justin Tucker to their practice squad on Wednesday. The move addresses the struggles of long-time Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker this season, who missed two field goals last Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks and has been inconsistent in recent games.

Since serving a 10-game suspension for violating the league’s Personal Conduct Policy over reported sexual misconduct allegations, Tucker has not played in the NFL since parting ways with the Baltimore
Ravens after the 2024 season.
During his last NFL season, Tucker converted a career-low 73.3 percent of his field-goal attempts and missed two extra points. Butker remains on the active 53-man roster, but every kick will draw plenty of attention this season after today’s reported addition.
Butker is in the third year of his four-year contract extension, which was signed before the 2024 season.
