Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke with reporters Friday and revealed significant news about this Sunday's matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Chiefs officially ruled out wide receiver Rashee Rice and left tackle Josh Simmons for Week 6. Rice didn't practice this week after sustaining a hamstring injury in Week 4 against the Las Vegas Raiders. Simmons returned to practice this week but isn't ready to play yet as he recovers from a bulging back disc.
Rice could be back on the field by next weekend, but Reid reminded reporters that hamstring injuries are unpredictable. In the Chiefs' AFC West battle with the Chargers, expect wide receivers Cyrus Allen, Nikko Remigio, and Jalen Royals to fill the veteran pass-catcher's spot on Kansas
City's depth chart.
Simmons will continue working his way back, while undrafted rookie free agent Kahlil Benson will keep the starting left tackle role this Sunday. The Chiefs will look to stay undefeated this season as they face the winless Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium.
