Pro Football Hall of Famer and Dallas Cowboys legend Michael Irvin weighed in on the Kansas City Chiefs opening the season with two home prime-time games. During a recent YouTube live stream, he singled out Patrick Mahomes as the reason for the early Arrowhead Stadium games.
"The Chiefs open up the first two games at home; I guarantee you they did that for Patrick Mahomes," said Irvin. "I guarantee they want to get him back up and going and get him right, and they said, 'We'll let you play the first couple of games at home so you get confidence before you have to go on the road or anything like that.'"
While Irvin guaranteed that Mahomes is the reason for the Chiefs' schedule, he also mentioned Travis Kelce's wedding to Taylor Swift as another
attraction for the NFL in the first two weeks.
"Ms. Taylor Swift Kelce at more games," said Irvin, "and the NFL wanted to help him out with the first couple of home games before we have to put this show on the road for Kansas City. And it looks like Kansas City will be having a show."
The Chiefs opened the season at home against the Denver Broncos and Indianapolis Colts in consecutive weeks. Both games were nationally televised on ESPN's Monday Night Football and NBC's Sunday Night Football.
