Kansas City Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo spoke with reporters on Thursday. He revealed potential plans for injured defensive back Chamarri Conner as he works toward a possible Week 4 debut.
"Well, we were on a course to kind of keep Chamarri (Conner) in one spot. I don't know if we're still there now or not. You know, listen, both Jaden (Hicks) and Alohi (Gilman) have done an admirable job," said Spagnuolo. "They would have had some plays back in the Miami game, obviously, on those deep throws and the one that we could have caught."
The Chiefs defense held the Miami Dolphins to 0 for 3 on fourth down in Week 3, including two stops in the final six minutes to secure the 24-10 victory. Through 3 games this season, Kansas City has
held opponents to 2-of-6 (33.3%) on fourth down.
"Chamarri, listen, I think I've said this before, but it seems like every year he's been here, and we've done cut-ups at the end of the season, and we're looking through the film, 27 keeps showing up making plays," said Spagnuolo, "So hopefully we can get him back there doing that. I think he's a really good tackle and a good football player, and we'll fit him in there whether it's at safety or nickel in certain packages. I like having him on the field, and I'm hoping we get him for this game."
In 2025, Conner played in and started all 17 games, finishing with 117 total tackles, 75 solo tackles, 2 sacks, and an interception. He also forced 2 fumbles.
