Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyquan Thornton spoke with reporters on Friday. He credited his Miami upbringing for his receiving skills ahead of the Week 3 road game against the Miami Dolphins and discussed his role.
"I mean, my role is to basically get open and catch the ball to compete in the run game," said Thornton. "So, but just going out there each and every day, putting my best foot forward, coming in, knowing what to do, blocking out the outside noise, and just staying focused."
The former 2022 NFL Draft second-round pick finished the 2025 season with 19 catches for 438 yards and three touchdowns. He excels as a deep-threat wide receiver and credited his hometown of Miami as he prepares to play his first professional game there on Sunday.
"I say, growing up in Miami, growing up in South Florida, we love to catch the deep ball," said Thornton. "We just grew up like just tracking the ball, making the hard catches over the top, left shoulder, right shoulder. It's kind of routine."
Thornton finished the Week 2 victory over the Indianapolis Colts with four receptions for 86 yards, including a 45-yard catch to the goal line.
