The Kansas City Chiefs found themselves at the center of attention on October 25 after reports surfaced that head coach Andy Reid and star quarterback Patrick Mahomes asked second-year offensive lineman Josh Simmons to leave a team meeting in Week 7.
While details about the spat involving Reid, Mahomes, and Simmons are relatively scarce, the timing didn't look great for the former first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Simmons was placed on the Chiefs' injured reserve list just a day after the incident occurred, and he seems to be trending in the wrong direction as he approaches the halfway point of his sophomore season in Kansas City.
Former Chiefs lineman Mitchell Schwartz has been following every development in the Simmons story closely, and
he took to Twitter to react to the latest news about Kansas City's left tackle:
My mentions are open for apologies for all the people angrily telling me I was wrong to suggest the story we were told Wednesday/Thursday smelled fishy. Yes, there’s way more going on than the nice and tidy “simple” medical story they told us. https://t.co/Ind6QgWWA0

Schwartz has first-hand experience dealing with Reid, and his suggestion that there is "way more going on" than fans and the media are being told may be an indication that further developments in the Simmons saga should be expected in the coming weeks.
