Kansas City Chiefs defensive back Alohi Gilman spoke with reporters on Wednesday. He reflected on playing alongside former Los Angeles Chargers teammate Justin Herbert and what he learned about the offense.
"Yeah, it'd be a fun experience. Obviously, I got a good relationship with him. Same draft class," said Gilman. "We were the last two guys there before I ended up getting shipped off. But it was a good relationship with him, growing over the years; he's grown as a player, and seeing him grow and do the things that he has been doing has been awesome to see. Great pressing as well, so you always root for guys like that, but it'll be fun out there on Sunday."
The Chargers drafted Gilman in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL draft. The former Notre
Dame standout was teammates with Herbert before being traded to the Baltimore Ravens last season. He didn't have much detail on the Chargers' offense this year.
"I mean, same division, so it's not like they don't see him a lot. Coaches have a lot of experience against them, but it's just little things," said Gilman. "I wouldn't say it's a big difference or big intel you can give. We know who you are. You lost the tape, and you know we adjust what we got to do to make sure we get a winning thought about that."
Gilman has recorded 7 total tackles (7 solo, 10 assists) across 4 games this season.
