Kansas City Chiefs center Creed Humphrey spoke with reporters after practice on Thursday at Missouri Western State University. He discussed the offensive line's focus and communication building during training camp.
"Yeah, I think it's just focusing on the details in practice. Locking down exactly what we need to do, what we need to accomplish with each screen," said Humphrey. "Really just getting the reps with the (QB Garrett Nussmeier and QB Justin Fields) new backs and everybody just to get that cohesion."
Last season, Humphrey was a Pro Bowler for a fourth consecutive season. He earned another first-team All-Pro selection. He also earned successive selections to the PFWA All-NFL team from 2021-25. He leads a group that includes last year's
top pick Josh Simmons as the unit continues to work on communication.
"Yeah, I think communication is a big thing right now. Being able to communicate with each other pre-snap, post-snap, all those things," said Humphrey. "So far the guys have been doing a great job with it, and I feel like it's gotten better each day so far. The work ethic in individual drills, all those things, it's (headed) in the right direction.
In 2025, Simmons was the Week 1 starter on Patrick Mahomes' blind side. He fit the part, giving up just one sack in the first five games of the season. He missed four games while handling a family matter and then, later, a season-ending wrist surgery.
