This week, Chiefs Wire's Ed Easton Jr. spoke with Atlanta Falcons linebacker JD Bertrand.
In his interview with Easton Jr., Bertrand discussed his partnership with Guardian Sports and his recent donation of Guardian Caps to his alma mater, Blessed Trinity Catholic High School in Roswell, Georgia.
"I think the first thing is, like, everyone kind of knows football. Like, there's a 100 percent injury rate. People like to say, and I think for me, like I've had my fair share of injuries, just like any other guys," said Bertrand. "And for me, whatever I could do to prevent those injuries, especially as it relates to head injuries, is important to me. When I found out about the Guardian Cap in college, I was among the first to wear it at practice. From
there, I I kept wearing it at practice during the NFL."
The Kansas City Chiefs and the rest of the league have consistently used protective headgear in camps over the past few years.
Last season, 20 players wore Guardian Caps during games. Since introducing the Guardian Cap in 2022, the NFL has seen nearly a 50% reduction in preseason practice concussions among players wearing Guardian Caps compared with the three exhibition sessions before the mandate.
