The Kansas City Chiefs may enter their Week 1 matchup against the Denver Broncos without one of their best blockers — second-year offensive lineman Josh Simmons.
While Chiefs head coach Andy Reid hasn't given the media an official update on Simmons' status, intrepid beat writer Pete Sweeney of the Kansas City Star expressed his concern about the former first-round pick's availability during an appearance on 810 Radio's 'New Day With SSJ.'
In his remarks, Sweeney made it clear that he is not expecting Simmons to take the field for the Chiefs' 'Monday Night Football' showdown against Denver, and indicated that rookie Kahlil Benson would likely be his replacement at the left tackle spot on Kansas City's starting offensive line:

Fans should expect a more in-depth update on Simmons' status this week as the Chiefs ramp up their preparations for a primetime tilt with the Broncos that will serve as Patrick Mahomes' first return to action after a season-ending injury prematurely ended his 2025 campaign.
