This week, Chiefs Wire's Ed Easton Jr. spoke with Super Bowl-winning coach and Tampa Bay Buccaneers Senior football consultant Bruce Arians.
In his interview with Easton Jr., Arians discussed his work with Novartis on its "Relax, it's a Blood Test" prostate cancer screening campaign. He reflected on his Buccaneers journey to Super Bowl LV against the Kansas City Chiefs.
"This being a 'Crucial Catch' month with the kickoff of the NFL and Novartis," said Arians, "it's just a perfect team-up for me because it is so personal."
Arians coached the Buccaneers in a winning effort over the Chiefs 31-9 in Super Bowl LV on February 7, 2021. He said the team's momentum began well before that, during the regular season.
"Yeah, I think our guys came together
about week 12 because we had no OTAs. Tom (Brady) was learning the offense. (Rob) Gronk (Gronkowski) was a big pickup for us because he was a very comfortable guy for Tommy," said Arians. "As we learned and grew together, we got better. And then, at halftime of the (Atlanta) Falcons game, I think we were down 17-0. We came back and won. That springboarded everything toward the champ. Then I think we hit the double score right before halftime and came out of the locker room almost every time in the playoffs. And the touchdown up in Green Bay right before the half was huge. Same thing in New Orleans. I always thought the winner of our New Orleans game was going to win the Super Bowl."
