The Kansas City Chiefs opened their regular season schedule with an important win over the Denver Broncos in Week 1 and will look to secure another win against the Indianapolis Colts on 'Sunday Night Football' this evening.
The Chiefs' offense was firing on all cylinders last week against a solid Broncos defense. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes and running back Kenneth Walker far outperformed expectations, a welcome sight for Kansas City fans after the Chiefs' disastrous 2025 campaign.
Those who had Mahomes and Walker in their fantasy lineups last week, including yours truly, can likely expect another solid outing from the dynamic duo.
Why you need to start QB Patrick Mahomes in Week 1 vs Colts
Patrick Mahomes shocked the naysayers on Monday evening by leading the Chiefs to victory just nine months after his
ACL surgery. Despite a somewhat lackluster performance in the air, the two-time MVP's mobility was on full display. The Broncos had the second-best run defense in the league last season, but were simply helpless to stop Mahomes from scrambling. The Colts' defense is, by most measures, significantly worse. I expect another highly impressive outing from the former Texas Tech Red Raider.

QB Patrick Mahomes vs Colts stat predictions in Week 2
Admittedly, I slightly overestimated quarterback Patrick Mahomes last week. I expected a vintage Mahomes performance, and while he was impressive, he didn't quite live up to my prediction. I will still be starting the six-time Pro Bowler this week, but I have learned to manage my expectations.
As previously stated, the Colts' defense is far worse than Denver's. If Mahomes can still score two touchdowns against the Broncos, it stands to reason that he can do the same against Indianapolis. I expect 250+ yards and two touchdowns from Mahomes.
Why you need to start RB Kenneth Walker in Week 2 vs Colts
It takes a big man to admit when he is wrong, and I am that big man. Last week's bold proclamation to sit running back Kenneth Walker against the Broncos was, simply put, a bad call. The reigning Super Bowl MVP delivered a career-best performance on Monday against one of the league's better run defenses. After such an impressive outing, head coach Andy Reid will likely give Walker even more opportunities.

Last week, running back Kenneth Walker outperformed the already high expectations heading into this season. To those of you who listened to my advice and sat Walker, I would like to apologize. Mea Culpa, if you will. The former Michigan State Spartan was simply unstoppable against the Broncos, and I have a feeling the same will be true against Indianapolis.
He likely won't put up the same numbers this week, but I think fans can expect 125+ yards and one touchdown against the Colts.
