This week, Chiefs Wire's Ed Easton Jr. spoke with LSU Tigers college football head coach Lane Kiffin.
In his interview with Easton Jr., Kiffin, who stars in the new Dr Pepper Fansville commercial trailer for Season 9, discussed his role in the video, which plays off his offseason decision to leave Ole Miss for LSU. He shared his thoughts on Kansas City Chiefs rookie quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, praising his hiring before entering the NFL Draft.
"I didn't do a good job probably on that (acting performance)," said Kiffin, "So we probably had a lot of takes. So I was there in the first scene, and Boz (Brian Bosworth) said something. I didn't say anything back, and he's like, "Coach, we're gonna need you to say your lines, and we're gonna be here a long
time today. And that was pretty funny. It was a pretty cool moment."
Nussmeier, while playing for LSU, battled Kiffin's Ole Miss teams over the years and praised the school for hiring him during the offseason. The two spent a brief time together before the Chiefs drafted Nussmeier in April, and Kiffin spoke positively about the rookie quarterback.
"Yeah, I think he (Nussmeier) played great. He beat us (Ole Miss) down here two years ago and played amazing and won in overtime," said Kiffin. "I think he was really hurt last year, and you could see that as he would try to play through it. I think many people wouldn't even have played. He's just so tough and competitive, and I think he's going to do a great job, and I really enjoyed my short time around him here while he was working out."
