Kansas City Chiefs running back Kenneth Walker III recently spoke with reporters about his success this season and his ability to force missed tackles.
"That's really just the guys around me," said Walker, "like the O-line doing a great job and I.D.ing everybody they need to block, and wide receivers and tight ends coming in and blocking as well. So, they make my job a lot easier to make those plays."
Walker has rushed for 537 yards through Kansas City's first four games, which is the most rushing yards by any player through Week 4 since 2010.
"I feel like that's just how it is, you know. I feel like really just around the league, at least where I've been, it's real unselfish," said Walker. "You know, guys are willing to do that in order to, you know, just win
games."
After the bye week, Walker still leads the NFL in forced missed tackles with 39, and his efforts have led the Chiefs to the NFL's second-best yards-per-play mark.
"Yeah, I believe it's just a mindset, you know," said Walker. "That's how I've always ran the ball, and, you know, that's how I'll continue to run the ball."
He will hope to keep the momentum going later today against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 6.
