Kansas City Chiefs running back Kenneth Walker III spoke with reporters on Saturday. He discussed his mindset ahead of his first Chiefs regular season game at Arrowhead Stadium on Monday night.
“Honestly, just going through what we go through – OTAs and training camp. You know, those are long days, so it’s exciting to be able to go out there and showcase it on Monday night,” said Walker. “Right now, I’m pretty chill, but I feel like when we get there, I’ll be super excited. Just being able to go out there with my brothers and finally being able to showcase what we’ve been working on since OTAs.”
Walker has taken on a mentor role for the younger running backs on the depth chart during training camp. He praises the progress of Brashard Smith and
rookie Emmett Johnson.
“Obviously, I’m real proud. I love to see those guys shine,” said Walker. “We work at it day in and day out, so being able to see the work pay off, it’s good to see. And also, those are my brothers, so anything they do that’s good, I love to see that.”
The Chiefs made Walker the big offseason signing to replicate his performance last season with the Seattle Seahawks. In 2025, Walker rushed for 1,027 yards and five touchdowns. He also made an impact in the passing game with 31 receptions for 282 yards.
