Kansas City Chiefs special teams coordinator Dave Toub made a point to defend veteran kicker Harrison Butker after the team's controversial decision to sign Justin Tucker to its practice squad.
During his comments to the media on October 29, Toub explained that Butker has been hard at work honing his craft after a disastrous performance against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 7.
"We're trying to improve and get Butker right," the long-tenured coordinator told reporters. "That's what this whole thing is about. He's our kicker. He went 10-for-10 yesterday with Tucker standing right there. It was a windy day. It was 28 miles an hour gusts yesterday. That's a good thing. We're going to keep working it."
While it remains to be seen if Butker will return
to form during the 2026 NFL regular season, the Chiefs' coaching staff is clearly committed to giving the three-time Super Bowl champion time to regain their confidence ahead of Kansas City's Week 8 matchup against the Denver Broncos.
