Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke with reporters on Tuesday, providing a positive update for wide receiver Rashee Rice before next week's season opener.
"Yeah, I like the way (Rashee Rice) he's progressed here," said Reid, "coming off the knee, and every day he's gotten better and stronger, and his endurance is better. So, he had a chance to play in the last game- a few plays, the last preseason game, I'm saying- and I thought that was important. I think he'll be fine going in this game."
Rice appeared for a few snaps in the preseason finale against the Seattle Seahawks. He ended last season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns, averaging 10.8 yards per reception. Rice missed multiple games last year due to suspension
and injuries.
During the offseason, Rice underwent surgery to clean up debris in his right knee. The Chiefs' medical staff treated his knee after a judge approved it, as he was dealing with inflammation. Many view the 2026 season as a make-or-break year for Rice, who is eligible for a contract extension.
