The Kansas City Chiefs faced the Denver Broncos in an important AFC West matchup in Week 8 at Empower Field, hoping to stay atop the division. The highly anticipated battle came down to the wire before a vociferous Broncos crowd.
Andy Reid's offensive playbook showed flashes of brilliance this week. Another slow-paced game forced the offense to spread the ball around and get a breakout performance from a rookie playmaker. Patrick Mahomes efficiently turned the clock back with clutch plays under pressure. Rashee Rice returned to the lineup and scored a touchdown while Travis Kelce was a threat late in the game.
The defense stayed solid for most of the game, containing Bo Nix. George Karlaftis has emerged as a focused pass-swatter at the line of scrimmage
and caused havoc in the backfield. Nick Bolton led the team in tackles again this season.
Check out how some of Kansas City's stars fared in the Chiefs' loss to the Broncos:
Stock Up: Emmett Johnson
The rookie running back was a threat in the passing game, catching 5 for 128 yards. He got the bulk of his production on an impressive 73-yard touchdown reception in the first half. He finished with 192 all-purpose yards, including kick returns.
Stock Up: Patrick Mahomes
Mahomes was sharp all game, using his improvisation skills to extend plays. He finished with three touchdown passes, over 300 yards passing, and avoided turnovers.
Stock Up: George Karlaftis
The Chiefs pass rusher was active at the line of scrimmage, batting down passes, securing a sack, and forcing a fumble.
Stock Down: Harrison Butker
Another week, another notable moment Butker would like to forget: missing a late-game field goal that could have put the game out of reach in Kansas City's favor.
Stock Down: Jaylon Moore

A devastating moment from the veteran offensive lineman who was called for a false start, eliminating the game-winning touchdown pass to Rashee Rice.
