The Kansas City Chiefs are well into training camp this week, but a former wide receiver is making headlines outside the NFL.
Veteran wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins has been hired as Georgia Tech's assistant wide receivers coach. The university made it official over the weekend with an announcement on its website.
"DeAndre is one of the greatest receivers of all-time, but his value to our program goes far beyond that," head coach Brent Key said, per Georgia Tech's athletics website. "He has an exceptional knowledge of what we're doing on offense due to his long relationship with (offensive coordinator) George Godsey and strong familiarity with the ACC, but most importantly, he's a leader of men that I'm very excited for our players to be around,
on and off the field."
The 34-year-old free-agent wide receiver made it clear on his social media account that he hasn't retired from the NFL.

Hopkins has played 13 NFL seasons, with five Pro Bowls and three All-Pro campaigns, tallying 13,295 yards and 85 touchdowns on 1,006 receptions.
The respected receiver played 10 games for the Chiefs during the 2024 season, finishing with 41 catches for 437 yards and four touchdowns after the Tennessee Titans traded him midseason.
