The Kansas City Chiefs waived veteran linebacker Cam Jones ahead of their Week 7 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks on 'Sunday Night Football.'
Jones, who is in his fourth season in the NFL, originally signed with the Chiefs in 2023 and was a member of Kansas City's Super Bowl LVIII roster.
He spent the 2023 and 2024 seasons with the Chiefs before playing in brief stints with the New York Jets and Giants in 2025 and 2026.
News of Kansas City's abrupt decision to waive Jones was announced in a post by the Chiefs' official Twitter account on October 21:
We have designated LB Cooper McDonald to return to practice. We have signed LB Aiden Fisher to the Practice Squad. We have waived LB Cam Jones. We have terminated the Practice Squad contract of RB

While Jones was never the centerpiece of Kansas City's defense, his experience as a Super Bowl champion is sure to help him find work with a linebacker-needy team as the 2026 NFL regular season approaches its halfway point.
Stay tuned to Chiefs Wire to find out if Kansas City will reunite with the veteran defender, or if he will ultimately find work with another franchise.
