The Kansas City Chiefs may get their planned starting offensive line on the field after a significant update from head coach Andy Reid.
At his weekly press conference, Reid said offensive lineman Josh Simmons will practice Wednesday after weeks away with injuries.
"Yeah, just gonna ease him back in," said Reid. "Yeah, ease him into practice, so he's got practice, but on a limited basis."
According to Reid, Simmons had a bulging disc in his lower back last monththat was hindering his leg strength. He wasn't placed on Injured Reserve then, with the optimism that he'd return to the field sooner rather than later.
"Yeah, I haven't even gone there (game return timetable). I'm just glad he's having a chance to come back. We start dealing with backs; got
to ease it back in if you can get back in at all," said Reid. "So we'll just see how he does. I haven't really even gone there. I know he's wanting to get back out there, and this is the first step of that."
The Chiefs have continued to do well with undrafted rookie free agent Kahlil Benson at left tackle. Simmons appears to be on the road to recovery and adds depth to the offensive line.
