Former Kansas City Chiefs defensive back Jaylen Watson was placed on the Los Angeles Rams' injured reserve list ahead of the California-based franchise's Week 9 tilt with the Washington Commanders.
Watson began his professional career as a seventh-round pick of the Chiefs in the 2022 NFL Draft and played with Kansas City for four seasons.
After a shoulder injury derailed the former Washington State Cougar's first season with Los Angeles, news broke earlier this week that Watson would require surgery that would keep him out of action for multiple weeks.
The Rams announced their decision to place Watson on injured reserve in a post on Twitter:

A member of the Chiefs' Super Bowl LVII and LVIII rosters, Watson's outstanding performance in Kansas City earned him a lucrative contract from Los Angeles in free agency earlier this year.
With Watson sidelined for the foreseeable future, Los Angeles is set to give veteran defensive backs Josh Wallace and Emmanuel Forbes more playing time in coordinator Chris Shula's secondary during the Rams' matchup against Washington.
