The Kansas City Chiefs started the 2026 regular season by hosting their AFC West rivals, the Denver Broncos, at Arrowhead Stadium on Monday Night Football. Many questions were answered right away regarding Patrick Mahomes' health, Kenneth Walker's impact, and the rookie class's contribution.
Mahomes showed no hesitation in using his legs when needed, including a scrambling run for a touchdown in the first quarter. He wasn't his usual passing self, but he didn't have to be, given how effectively Walker ran the ball. Offensive highlights included Rashee Rice's touchdown reception and a significant milestone catch by Travis Kelce.
R Mason Thomas secured his first NFL sack, while fellow rookie Mansoor Delane recorded his first interception before
leaving early with a shoulder injury. Undrafted rookie offensive lineman Kahlil Benson performed well in his first start at left tackle.

Stock Up: Kenneth Walker III
The reigning Super Bowl MVP exceeded expectations in his Chiefs debut. He finished with an impressive 173 yards on 23 carries and a touchdown, plus 3 catches for 18 yards and a touchdown.
Stock Up: R Mason Thomas
The Oklahoma rookie continued his strong preseason form by sacking Broncos quarterback Bo Nix. Thomas also collected two tackles in his debut.
Stock Up: Travis Kelce
Kelce achieved another milestone, moving into 2nd place all-time on the tight end list for receiving yards. He finished the night with three catches for 71 yards, which included a 59-yard reception.
Stock Down: Jaylon Moore
Moore was flagged for an early penalty and had some notable issues with protection at right tackle. The veteran offensive lineman is in a battle to keep a starting role when Josh Simmons returns after signing a lucrative contract before last season.
