According to veteran NFL reporter Ben Standig, the Washington Commanders released former Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman D.J. Humphries on September 11.
Humphries entered the league as a first-round pick of the Arizona Cardinals in the 2015 NFL Draft and signed with the Chiefs on November 25, 2024. After spending the back half of the 2024 season in Kansas City, Humphries caught on with the Los Angeles Rams in 2025 before catching on with the Commanders earlier this year.
News of Humphries release was reported by Standig in a post to his official Twitter account, just days before Washington's Week 1 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles:

The Chiefs are dealing with some uncertainty on their offensive
line as second-year left tackle Josh Simmons remains a non-participant in Kansas City's practice sessions, and fans shouldn't be surprised if general manager Brett Veach is keeping tabs on Humphries as his team's showdown against the Denver Broncos on 'Monday Night Football' approaches.
