Kenneth Walker is loving life as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Super Bowl MVP is off to a hot start to the season, leading the NFL with 537 rushing yards prior to the start of Week 5. His strong play has given the Chiefs a 4-0 start, with Kansas City being one of three remaining undefeated teams in the NFL.
The Chiefs' offensive unit as a whole has played well, with one of those key figures being none other than veteran tight end Travis Kelce. The 37-year-old tight end decided to return for a 14th season after contemplating retirement, and he's off to a strong start. Kelce has 16 catches for 246 receiving yards and two touchdowns, leading the Chiefs in both catches and receiving yards through the early portion of the season.
Walker, who
is in his first season as a teammate of Kelce's, gave ultimate praise for the 11-time Pro Bowler and said he could "definitely" play another few years in the NFL.
"Yeah, definitely," Walker said in a one-on-one interview with Chiefs Wire's DJ Siddiqi in reference to Kelce's ability to continue playing in the NFL. "I feel like that goes [to] show how he takes care of his body as well. I [have] even seen him in the offseason the way he was working in the training room and making sure his body was good before practices and everything. He's playing at a high level too.
Walker, who is himself a Super Bowl champion, said that both Mahomes and Kelce know what it takes to win. The star duo has won three Super Bowls in Kansas City.
"They know what it takes to win, and they [are] both two great competitors," said Walker. "We're going to need them this season."
He outlined the impression that Mahomes and Kelce have made on him in his first season in Kansas City.
"[They have made] a big impact, honestly," said Walker. "When I first got here, they welcomed me with open arms, and just seeing what type of people they are off the field, they always want to help in the community and everything. They want to be together as a team, and I feel like that creates that bond that you need to be able to be successful and go to where you want to be at the end of the season."
Walker and the Chiefs will look to maintain their strong start to the season when they take on the winless Los Angeles Chargers in Week 6.
