Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman George Karlaftis spoke with reporters on Wednesday. He shared advice for younger teammates ahead of Week 3 against the winless Miami Dolphins.
"They (Dolphins) haven't gotten a win yet, so it's their home opener," said Karlaftis. "They're going to be hungry. They're motivated. They're a young team. They got a new head coach. They're going to be as motivated as ever to get their first win of the season, and it's going to be on us to try to make sure that doesn't happen."
Miami has revamped its roster and coaching staff this season, entering a rebuilding phase. As a veteran in the Chiefs locker room, Karlaftis understands the potential of a young team trying for an early-season upset.
"We want to win every single
game going in. So, it's the same message every week," said Karlaftis. "It's a one-game fit where you try to win, try to win the day, try to win the game, that kind of thing, and trying throughout the course of the season to improve based on the mistakes you made or stuff you find in your game from the previous week."
Chiefs defenders who stood out against the Colts were veterans, as the points allowed in the win didn't tell the full story. Nick Bolton and Jaden Hicks both tallied 10+ tackles in Week 2, with Bolton recording 13 tackles (six solo), and Hicks had 10 tackles (five solo). Both defenders recorded a tackle for loss.
