Former Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Leo Chenal made his debut with the Washington Commanders in Week 1 of the 2026 NFL regular season.
Chenal entered the league as a third-round pick of the Chiefs in the 2022 NFL Draft and signed with Washington as a free agent earlier this year.
Commanders Wire managing editor Bryan Manning broke down Chenal's Week 1 performance in an interview with Chiefs Wire, indicating that the former Wisconsin Badger impressed in his debut against the Philadelphia Eagles.
"Chenal played 23 of 55 snaps and missed a tackle on Eagles running back Saquon Barkley that led to a 42-yard run," Manning explained. "Otherwise, he was a solid contributor in a rotational role with Sonny Styles and Frankie Luvu at the inside linebacker
position."
While it may take some time for Chenal to learn the ropes in Washington's defense, fans should expect to continue seeing the ex-Chief excel as he competes with Styles and Luvu for more playing time.
