During his comments to the media on November 4, head coach Andy Reid revealed that Harrison Butker will remain the Kansas City Chiefs' kicker ahead of the team's Week 9 matchup against the New York Jets.
Butker has struggled to find consistency in 2026, and Kansas City made the controversial decision to sign kicker Justin Tucker to its practice squad late last month in response to the former Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket's recent spate of poor performances.
Through seven games in the 2026 NFL regular season, Butker has missed six three-point field goal attempts and one extra point try.
A second-hand quote from Reid regarding Butker's status was shared to Twitter by ESPN's Nate Taylor:
Andy Reid said there’s a “good chance” Kingsley Suamataia will be
the starter Sunday against the Jets. “Harrison [Butker] will be in,” Reid said, too.

While it remains to be seen whether Butker will maintain his status as Kansas City's kicker through the rest of the Chiefs' 2026 campaign, Reid's faith in the veteran boot is an indication that fans in Western Missouri shouldn't expect the long-tenured skipper to make any drastic changes to his strategy amid a two-game midseason skid.
