Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Chris Jones spoke with reporters after the Week 3 victory over the Miami Dolphins. He discussed the defensive game plan in Week 3 and how they tried to contain Malik Willis.
"We're going to have those games where we face a lot of adversity," said Jones. "I think coming in today, we didn't start how we wanted to, but we were able to get the win. That's the beauty of it. And we know this game isn't easy to come by."
Dolphins quarterback Malik Willis was evasive throughout the game, avoiding sacks, but was pressured into an interception by the Chiefs. Jones reflected on trying to take down the versatile playmaker.
"He's very explosive, and the type of play that's run on offense. You look at the first three third
downs, one of them was a screen, the second one was a quarterback draw, and the third one was a screen," said Jones. "So, it kind of gets you off your game when you mix it up like that. And then you make a move when he's going down there. I think he kind of schemed us up on that. But we still got to get to the quarterback. Find a way to get to him."
George Karlaftis intercepted a pass from Willis after Jones batted the pass in the air in the fourth quarter. Jones' 40 passes defensed are now tied for the second-most among defensive tackles since he entered the league in 2016.
