According to Charles Goldman of A to Z Sports, Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman Trey Smith was fined $6,750 for an illegal block infraction he committed against the Denver Broncos on 'Monday Night Football' in Week 1.
Smith, who mans the right guard spot on Kansas City's starting offensive line, is among the league's most accomplished blockers. The former Tennessee Volunteer has been a member of two Super Bowl rosters during his six years with the Chiefs and earned Pro Bowl honors in 2024 and 2025.
Goldman broke the news about the NFL's decision to fine Smith's in a post to his official Twitter account on September 19:

of Week 1. Denver Broncos LB Alex Singleton was fined $11,941 for unnecessary roughness against RB Emmett Johnson on the first play of the fourth quarter.

Though a nearly $7,000 fine is hardly something to brag about, Smith can rest easy knowing that Kansas City is set to pay him $12,138,610 in 2026.
Fans should expect Smith to adopt a more conservative approach during the Chiefs' Week 2 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts on 'Sunday Night Football.'
