Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Chris Jones spoke with reporters on Thursday. He praised the value of having running back Kenneth Walker III on the team, noting that his consistency helps his teammates on defense throughout games.
"Well, for us, it gives us more of a break. We're not used to this territory. Super excited to have him on our side, you know. But it definitely wears the defense down, especially a defense that likes the pass rush," said Jones. "So, for us, it gives us a break and an opportunity to catch our breath. Something we haven't seen in a while, and not so much disrespect towards the guys who have previously been here as running backs, but more so respect for our offense actually taking initiative and running or giving
the ball to Kenny (Kenneth) Walker 26 times."
The Chiefs won the time-of-possession battle on Monday night against the Denver Broncos in Week 1. Walker's star performance earned him the AFC Offensive Player of the Week award. Kansas City notably hasn't had a 1,000-yard rusher in a season since Kareem Hunt in 2017.
