The Kansas City Chiefs are heading into their Week 9 matchup against the New York Jets at Arrowhead Stadium.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid addressed the media during his press conference on Friday. He said defensive players Peter Woods, Mansoor Delane, and Omarr Norman-Lott won't play Sunday; Nikko Remigio is questionable.
Woods has missed practice all week due to a neck stinger suffered in last week's loss to the Denver Broncos. Delane remains out due to ongoing shoulder injuries and will miss his second straight game. Norman-Lott is still ramping up his recovery after suffering a torn ACL last season. Remigio has practiced this week but continues to battle through a hip injury.
Reid believes the injuries to Woods and Delane aren't serious and that
their playing status is more of a strength decision. He isn't discouraged by the situation and doesn't believe the rookies are, either, about missing early-career games.
The Chiefs will rely significantly on their depth on Sunday, with the expectation that rookie Jadon Canady will see more action in the secondary. Rookie Brashard Smith's emergence as a versatile special-teams option could put him back in to return kicks if needed.
