The Kansas City Chiefs and Indianapolis Colts released their inactive lists before their Week 2 matchup at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday Night Football.
Here are the inactive players for the Chiefs:
- TE Jared Wiley
- OL Diego Pounds
- OL Josh Simmons
- DT Bryson Eason
- LB Jack Pyburn
- DB Chamarri Conner
- QB Garrett Nussmeier (Emergency Quarterback)
Here are the inactive players for the Colts:
- WR Ashton Dulin
- LB Austin Ajiake
- RB DJ Giddens
- DL George Gumbs Jr.
- OL Dalton Tucker
- QB Riley Leonard (Emergency Quarterback)
During the season, inactives are players ruled out of a game and will not participate, even though they are on the active roster. The Chiefs and their opponent must announce the listed inactive players an hour and a half before kickoff. The designation can be due to injury, coaching decisions, or various other reasons.
To prevent teams from running out of quarterbacks, they can dress an ‘Emergency Third Quarterback’. The player is technically listed as inactive on the sheet but may enter the game only if both
the starter and primary backup are knocked out by injury or disqualification.
