The Kansas City Chiefs aren't expected to release their list of inactive players for their preseason Week 2 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The preseason differs slightly from the regular season because teams don't formally make players inactive. They also aren't expected to play, either due to injury or otherwise.
The lists are subject to change, and not every player will be listed throughout the preseason.
Here are the players who aren't expected to play for the Chiefs:
- QB Patrick Mahomes
- OL Trey Smith
- OL Josh Simmons
- DL Ashotn Gillotte
- DB Chamarri Conner
- LB Jack Cochrane
- WR Jeff Caldwell
- WR Jimmy Holiday
Here are the Buccaneers who aren't expected to play:
- WR Jalen McMillan
- WR Emeka Egbuka
- OL Tristan Wirfs
- OL Billy Schrauth
- DL Vita Vea
- TE Cade Otton
- RB Kadarius Calloway
During the regular season, inactives are players ruled out of a game and will not participate, even though they are on the active roster. The Chiefs and their opponent must announce the listed inactive players an hour
and a half before kickoff. The designation can be due to injury, coaching decisions, or various alternative reasons.
