The Kansas City Chiefs and New York Jets are set to face off in a highly anticipated Week 9 showdown at Arrowhead Stadium.
While the Chiefs are in the midst of a two-game losing streak, New York should prove to be a relatively easy opponent for Kansas City to defeat in front of a home crowd.
This week, Chiefs Wire sat down with Nick Wojton of Jets Wire to get the inside scoop on New York ahead of Sunday's game.
Take a look at Wojton's answers to our top questions below:
Will the Jets enter tank mode after a 2-6 start?
"This question is getting play because of what the Colts are doing. But the thing is, despite the Jets' record, they are in full 'culture building' mode, not in a tank. Even if the Jets got to 6 or 7 wins, I'd say there is some success in that area,. So that begs the question: why
is that the case? Simply put, the Jets have already done what the Colts are doing a year ago. The Jets already have 3 picks currently in the top 10. The idea would instead be: Winning culture, collecting good players, and keep building.
How has Geno Smith progressed (or regressed) in his second stint in New York?
"Smith has actually been really solid for the Jets. Shockingly, the defense is more of a problem because when one usually thinks of the Jets, it's a good defense and bad offense dating all the way back to Rex Ryan's day. With Smith's arrival, he has been the trademark 'bridge' QB who has had some consistent play. Where he has progressed the most is not turning the ball over. With the Seahawks and Raiders, it was… 'Is Geno throwing 4 touchdowns or 4 picks today?' He takes care of it much more in New York."
Which rookie has made the biggest impact for the Jets this season?
"It's hard to really pick just one rookie; it's more of a collective group of guys that either have a big game or are a bit quiet. Rookie growing pains at times, as expected. But if I had to pick one, David Bailey. Bailey looks like he is going to be legit, and if the Jets do trade someone for draft capital, it might be pass rusher Will McDonald because of Bailey."
Final score prediction: Who wins in Week 9 and why?
"I'll go 31-21 Chiefs. If the Chiefs hadn't been reeling from two straight losses, this could be a legit 'trap game.' The Chiefs are not going to be playing around here and will get the job done."
