The 2027 NFL Draft will take place in Washington, D.C. next year. In that draft, the Browns still have their first-round pick, but a lot could happen in the next 9 months. Before then, though, there will be plenty of speculation and buildup for the team and who they may add to the roster through the draft in a class that many are saying could be one of generational wealth.
While we will always look at mock drafts from analysts around the space, we will also keep up with our Mock Draft Mondays here on Browns Wire.
While this used to be just an exercise used for the Fall to introduce players, the 2027 NFL Draft class is too good to be contained to those select months. Instead, we are going to do them in the summer. As we progress through Summer
Scouting, we'll look at the roster more closely in camp and share our opinions on players fans can watch this upcoming college season.
So with that in mind, let's dive into a 3-Round 2027 NFL Mock Draft for the Browns.
Round 1: Drew Mestemaker, QB, Oklahoma State
Projected Trade: Cleveland Browns send the 4th (First Round) and 68th (Third Round) overall picks to the New York Jets for the 13th and 20th overall picks.
The future quarterback of the Browns is not currently on the roster. They need to draft one in 2027 with a top pick, they cannot afford to wait any longer. If Todd Monken is not one-and-done as head coach, he will want his guy. I believe Drew Mestemaker could be that. He has an electric arm that can make throws to every level of the field and will have a chance to prove himself after his first year starting in 2026 after joining the Big 12.
Round 1: Ahmad Moten, DL, Miami (FL)
Ahmad Moten is a top 15 player for me on my big board because of the presence and physicality he brings to the defensive line in Miami. In the absence of Rueben Bain Jr., Moten is poised to step up and be the leader on this dominant line. Pairing him alongside Mason Graham and Jared Verse would give the Browns a versatile, explosive front that can stop the run or get after the passer.
Round 1: Quincy Rhodes Jr., Edge, Arkansas
Jared Verse needs a tag-team partner, and putting a young pass rusher alongside Quincy Rhodes helps both parties. Rhodes, like Moten, provides run support and pass rush support, and fits into the system and player type they look for in edge rushers. The defense is young, and adding two more pieces isn't the worst idea to be around established players.
Round 2: Trevor Lauck, OL, Iowa
The Browns need some versatility flexed into their offensive line if something doesn't work out with all the new faces in 2026. Trevor Lauck can be a tackle or guard for the Browns if drafted and could also be a starter on day one. Austin Barber makes this pick a bit of a puzzle, but again, the depth this brings is valuable given the volatility of the unit as a whole.
Round 3: Ben Roberts, LB, Texas Tech
Quincy Williams and Carson Schwesinger are a good up on paper, but we need to see them together. Whether they work or not, adding Robert who makes plays on the ball, provides run support, and can provide coverage, is a good piece to have at linebacker in case an injury occurs at a position it so often does.
