Fresh off a thrilling 27-24 Thursday Night Football victory over the rival Pittsburgh Steelers to move to 3-1, the Cleveland Browns pack their bags for a road trip to MetLife Stadium to take on the New York Jets.
With extended rest following the mini-bye, Wednesday’s initial practice report brought crucial roster updates, including the return of two players off Injured Reserve, alongside a heavy list of defensive line injuries coming out of Thursday's win.
Here is the first Browns injury report for Week 5.
Did not participate
- Defensive End Derek Barnett (Ankle)
- Defensive Tackle Mason Graham (Knee, Ankle)
- Defensive Tackle Mike Hall Jr. (Ankle)
- Right Guard Teven Jenkins (Back)
- Wide Receiver Tylan Wallace (Knee)
The defensive line took the brunt of Wednesday's absence list. Sophomore sensation Mason Graham, who leads the team with four sacks, sat out as he manages knee and ankle issues suffered during Thursday's win against Pittsburgh.
He was joined on
the sideline by defensive end Derek Barnett (ankle) and interior partner Mike Hall Jr. (ankle), leaving Cleveland's defensive front severely thinned out to open the week.
On the offensive side, guard Teven Jenkins remains sidelined with his lingering back issue, while receiver Tylan Wallace missed another session with a knee injury.
Limited practice
- Defensive Tackle Kalia Davis (Quad)
- Safety Grant Delpit (Shoulder)
In encouraging news for defensive line depth, defensive tackle Kalia Davis was brought off Injured Reserve and immediately logged a limited session as he works back from a quad injury. His return to the practice field comes at a perfect time given the DNP status of Graham and Hall.
Starting safety Grant Delpit remained limited as he continues to manage his ongoing shoulder issue.
Full participation
- Quarterback Dillon Gabriel (Back)
- Center Elgton Jenkins (Concussion)
The biggest headline on Wednesday came at quarterback, where Dillon Gabriel was activated off Injured Reserve and logged a full practice session as he works his way back from a back injury. Also returning as a full participant was starting center Elgton Jenkins, who successfully cleared concussion protocol after missing Thursday Night Football.
With multiple key defensive linemen sitting out and reinforcement activations underway, Thursday and Friday’s reports will dictate who makes the trip to East Rutherford.
