As we get started in November, we are now complete with Week 8. The Browns had quite the time against the Steelers, and they lost their lead atop the AFC North. After such a performance, we wanted to look at what others thought of their work in Week 8 on the road.
CBS Sports offers its thoughts every week by giving every team a grade. After Week 8, the Browns earned a fantastic grade of an F.
Their writer, John Breech, wrote up his explanation of the grade, saying, "The Browns finally came crashing back to earth, and they did it with their sloppiest game of the season. This game felt like it was going to turn into a blowout before the first quarter was even over. On the Browns' first three possessions of the game, they lost two fumbles and had
a three-and-out. The Browns' offensive line got absolutely bullied by a Steelers pass rush that sacked Deshaun Watson eight times. On the other side of the ball, the Browns' vaunted defense didn't get a single stop during the first two quarters. If the Browns want to be a playoff contender this year, they're going to have to start winning big games like this and they certainly didn't pass the test in Pittsburgh."
The rest of the AFC North shaped up as follows:
- Cincinnati Bengals C+
- Baltimore Ravens D-
- Pittsburgh Steelers A+
The Browns will have a chance to earn a higher grade, since it can't get any lower, in Week 9. They play the New Orleans Saints in a game that should allow for them to bounce back.
