As the Cleveland Browns prepare to hit the road to face the New York Jets, they are hosting a former wide receiver for a workout on Tuesday. Free agent wide receiver and return specialist James Proche is in Berea as a potential depth piece if the team decides to sign him. Proche was a member of the Browns for a couple of seasons in 2023 and 2024.
Proche is a career depth piece and special teamer. During his time with the Browns the first time, he only had three receptions for 21 yards, and over the course of his six-year career, he has 34 receptions for 364 yards and zero touchdowns.
He spent three seasons with the Ravens before joining the Browns in 2023 and posted decent numbers as a punt returner, which could be what they want: a special-teams
backup and a depth piece if injuries hit the receiving corps.
