The Cleveland Browns are coming off their first loss since Week 1 as they head into Week 6. They are now 3-2 and have a pivotal matchup with the Baltimore Ravens on the horizon in what has now become a must-win game for them.
The Browns can only control what they can control, and in Week 6 that is going to be more important than ever.
The Ravens have been dealing with several injuries, including the most notable one regarding Lamar Jackson. Whether he plays or not, this defense needs to prepare the way they know how to. On offense, Todd Monken and Deshaun Watson have to find that spark again after losing the momentum they had been building. Without doing both of those things, this could be a major setback for the season as a whole.
With that said,
we have our eyes on three matchups within this game that we want to highlight.
Carson Schwesinger vs. Lamar Jackson
Carson Schwesinger has played at an All-Pro level this year, but he is dealing with an ankle injury. Also dealing with an ankle injury is Lamar Jackson. Neither man is likely to be 100%, so who will have the willpower to overcome the other? Schwesinger has been really flashing his pass-rush presence in 2026, which will help contain Lamar Jackson, but he also has just done a tremendous job patrolling the middle of the field. He will have to be on his A game against one of the best players of this generation.
Denzel Ward vs. Zay Flowers
Denzel Ward is quietly having one of the best seasons of his career, just as Zay Flowers is. The Browns cornerback has allowed an average of just 20 yards to players he is covering in 2026. On the flip side, Zay Flowers is averaging 97.3 yards per game, something has to give, right? Flowers has been pretty well contained in his career against the Browns, but every matchup is a fresh start. Whoever wins this matchup between two proverbial titans could tip the scales in their team's favor.
Todd Monken vs. Jessee Minter
Todd Monken will be playing against the team he left to become a head coach this offseason. He is familiar with the Ravens, Lamar Jackson, Zay Flowers, and everyone on that offense, so what will he be able to do to help Mike Rutenberg and his defense? On the flip side, Jesse Minter is looking to continue the hot start to his coaching career as the Ravens themselves are sitting pretty at 4-1. These coaches seem poised to face each other for years, but the first matchup will perhaps be the most interesting.
