It was an impressive win for the Cleveland Browns over the division rival Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. It was a pivotal game that put the Browns in first place in the AFC North. They now hold the ever-important tiebreaker in the division with a 2-0 division record.
And while not every fan or analyst has fully bought into the Browns' success yet, they are starting to get some acknowledgment for their on-field performance. In fact, one analyst gave Cleveland a high grade in their recent week six report card.
John Breech of CBS Sports gave the Browns a respectable B+ grade in their week six victory. Here’s what he had to say.
“After surrendering 10 quick points in the first quarter, the Browns only gave up 123 yards over the final three quarters combined.
Not even Derrick Henry could get going against this defense.”
So far this year it has been the defense that has been the storyline. The Browns have allowed fewer than 20 points in three of their four wins, as well as 17 points in a loss to the New York Jets. With every game, we get more of a sample size that tells us the legitimacy of this unit.
It was also noted how impressive the late game heroics on offense have been.
“Cleveland's defense keeps the game close until the fourth quarter, and then the offense wins it with a miracle drive”
If I’m being honest, I can’t tell you that this level of offense is good enough to consistently win games. However, I do believe that it is a reflection of good coaching. Well-coached teams make adjustments and find a way to get points when they need them, which is exactly what the Browns have done this year.
