The 2027 NFL Draft will take place in Washington, D.C. next year. In that draft, the Browns still have their first-round pick, but a lot could happen in the next 8 months. Before then, though, there will be plenty of speculation and buildup about the team, and who they may add through the draft in a class many are calling one of generational wealth.
AtoZ Sports recently released the latest 2027 NFL mock draft of the cycle, which has the team going with Miami quarterback Darian Mensah with their first pick. With their second pick, they land Alabama edge rusher Yhonzae Pierre, who is also the player we will be focusing on.
They explain the pick, writing, "Pierre is one of the more versatile defensive prospects in the class. Alabama has used him
as a traditional edge defender, off-ball linebacker and even in coverage, allowing him to showcase his athleticism and football intelligence in a variety of roles. As a pass rusher, Pierre still has room to develop his arsenal, but his first-step quickness, length and ability to affect the game against the run give him a strong foundation. He recorded eight sacks and three forced fumbles in his first full season as a starter in 2025."
Pierre opposite Jared Verse could be perfect for the young pass rusher. He has the goods, but having someone to not allow hin be the center of attention is always a plus for any young pass rusher.
