The 2027 NFL Draft will take place in Washington, D.C. next year. In that draft, the Browns still have their first-round pick, but a lot could happen in the next 8 months. Before then, though, there will be plenty of speculation and buildup about the team and who they may add through the draft in a class many are calling one of generational wealth.
Sports Illustrated's Justin Melo recently released the latest 2027 NFL mock draft of the cycle, which has the team going with a new quarterback in Ole Miss' Trinidad Chambliss with their second first-round pick. While the Chambliss pick is exciting, it is the first pick in which they land Ohio State star Jeremiah Smith that has us buzzing.
Melo explains the Smith pick, writing, "The Cleveland Browns
miss out on the top three quarterback prospects, and we're not currently convinced there's a fourth worth drafting this highly. Instead, the Browns take the best overall player in the class, Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith. Cleveland just spent multiple premium picks on receivers, but Smith is legitimately generational, and they'd be keeping him in-state."
Giving a young quarterback like Chambliss someone like Jeremiah Smith, when you already have five other playmakers on offense, would have this team set up for success. The offense is going to struggle in 2026, but they are turning the corner with their young corps mostly in place.
