The Cleveland Browns did it. In primetime, against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Browns held onto the win and are now atop the AFC North. And not only are they the leaders in the AFC North, but they are also the sole leader, which hasn't happened since 2014.
But all of that is in the past; we are on to Week 5 just as they are. Waiting for them is an underrated New York Jets team coming off a tough loss to the Chicago Bears, where they were dominated in every facet. That now means they have a chance to make their lives a bit more miserable, or be caught in their bounce-back.
Either way, this is going to be a tougher matchup than many expect, and as a result, we want to look at the matchups within the game.
Jared Verse vs. The Jets' Offensive Line
Verse has had a slow start to his Browns
tenure since being traded in the Myles Garrett package this Summer. Verse has just seven pressures through four games, no sacks, but his presence is helping out others on the front. Against the Jets, Verse will be the focus of their talented group, but could he break through? Geno Smith could hold onto the ball a bit longer to help Verse or others get to him as the pocket collapses. Not suggesting he has a breakout game, but his continued need to be focused on will help those around him.
Todd Monken vs. Aaron Glenn
Todd Monken has been shown to be an offensive wizard with what he is doing for this Browns' offense in 2026. Equally, Aaron Glenn is looking like the Jets' defense is starting to turn a corner as well. Between these two, it will be interesting to see the chess match that unfolds as they both will be in their proverbial bag trying to outdo the other. This could be a low-scoring game as a result, as they both see who can get the better of the other.
Deshaun Watson vs. The Jets' Secondary
Deshaun Watson has played a good second half in two games and a great first half in the most recent one. That being said, he has yet to play a complete game, does that happen in Week 5? The Jets' secondary struggles to take the ball away, and their coverage has been less than what we saw in recent weeks. This is a game where Watson could have his best of the season if he takes what the defense is giving him and lets his playmakers do most of the work for his benefit.
