The Cleveland Browns needed to address the offensive line in a major way heading into the offseason, and they did just that. The franchise went out and spent money in free agency on Elgton Jenkins and Zion Johnson, and would take Utah offensive tackle Spencer Fano ninth overall in the 2026 NFL Draft. From the sound of it, the coaches have been over the moon with what they've seen.
The staff at ESPN went through every single draft pick from all 32 NFL teams and noted Fano's strong performances in training camp so far:
The Browns wanted Fano to earn his role as the franchise left tackle, and he has quickly won the coaching staff over with his daily training camp battles against star edge rusher Jared Verse. Fano will be Cleveland's blind-side protector
on an entirely new offensive line in Week 1. "The guy's extremely athletic, he plays hard, those things were not going to be the question," offensive coordinator Travis Switzer said. "It's just refining the technique, which he's shown he can do, and he's going to continue to do that."
Fano has all the tools to be a franchise left tackle that the team has been looking for since Joe Thomas left in 2017. You build winning organizations through the trenches, and the Browns are trending in the right direction to turn things around.
