Despite a Week 1 disaster of a game from the Browns' offense, things are not changing for Cleveland in Week 2 from a quarterback standpoint.
Head coach Todd Monken confirmed that Deshaun Watson would remain the starter for the team's Week 2 matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs made Joe Burrow and the Bengals make some tough mistakes, so what can they do to Watson?
If you ask Monken, he remains confident in his veteran quarterback after reviewing the film.
He told the media that, "There were some really good things on film, thing you can build on. I did think when he had time, when he understood the concepts, he didn't play tentative."
Watson was 16 for 22 passing on Sunday while collecting 205 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
He had a QBR of 34.2; however, 46 of those yards came on the last pass of the game for the Browns. Without that final play, he would've finished with 149 yards and no touchdowns, which would tell box score viewers the same thing that film watchers saw, which is that this is not good quarterback play.
Something has to give for the Browns, but will it before Week 3 and the home opener against the Carolina Panthers?
