The Cleveland Browns returned to the practice field on Thursday with a mixed bag of injury news as they continue preparations to travel south to take on Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
While the offense got a much-needed boost along the perimeter, the defensive backfield took a significant hit.
Here is the full breakdown for today’s injury report.
Did not participate
- Right Guard Teven Jenkins (Back)
- Cornerback Tyson Campbell (Ankle)
After missing Wednesday's session, former starting right guard Teven Jenkins remained out as he continues to battle a back injury.
Joining him on the sideline Thursday was Tyson Campbell, who popped up on the report with an ankle injury after practicing earlier in the week.
Campbell's absence is an immediate concern for a Cleveland secondary already thin on cornerback depth.
Facing a Tampa Bay
passing attack led by a motivated Baker Mayfield, eager to bounce back after a disappointing performance against Cincinnati, losing Campbell for any length of time creates a glaring vulnerability in the secondary.
Limited practice
- Center Parker Brailsford (Thumb)
- Defensive Tackle Maliek Collins (Quad)
- Center Elgton Jenkins (Back)
There was slight progress among the limited group, as backup center Parker Brailsford, Maliek Collins, and starting center Elgton Jenkins all logged their second consecutive limited workouts.
The coaching staff continues to monitor Collins carefully following his severe quad tear last season, while Elgton Jenkins' back issue remains the primary status to track along the interior line.
Full participation
- Left Tackle Dawand Jones (Head)
- Left Guard Zion Johnson (Knee)
- Wide Receiver Jerry Jeudy (Wrist)
In positive news, Dawand Jones was upgraded from limited to a full participant on Thursday. Jones clearing the protocol steps clears a path for him to protect the blind side on Sunday. He joins Zion Johnson and Jerry Jeudy, who both logged their second straight full sessions.
Additionally, reigning Rookie Defensive Player of the Year Carson Schwesinger remained absent from the injury report for a second straight day.
Friday's practice report will provide final game status designations for Sunday's matchup.
