The initial injury report for the 2026 NFL season is officially in as the Cleveland Browns prepare to hit the road to face off against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Health is always the biggest storyline heading into Week 1, and for the Browns, the opening participation report brings a mix of encouraging news and key spots to watch.
Here is the complete breakdown of Cleveland's first practice report of the regular season.
Did not participate
- None
In what can only be described as a rare and massive Week 1 win for the Browns, not a single player was held out of practice on Wednesday.
Starting the regular season with 100% attendance on the field is a testament to the training staff’s offseason program and gives Cleveland its full complement of depth heading into EverBank Stadium.
Limited practice
- Center Parker Brailsford (Thumb)
- Guard Teven Jenkins (Back)
- Defensive Tackle Maliek Collins (Quad)
The offensive line is clearly the most banged-up unit at this time. Brailsford, who is slated to backup Elgton Jenkins at center to start the year, was limited due to a thumb injury.
More concerning, however, is starting Right Guard Teven Jenkins. Jenkins’ back issue is an injury to monitor closely as the week drags on. If Jenkins is ultimately unable to go on Sunday, third-round rookie Austin Barber will be thrust into action to make his NFL debut.
On the defensive front, Maliek Collins being limited is not a surprise. Collins is coming off a 2025 season that was cut short by a severe grade three quad tear. The team is understandably taking a cautious approach before giving him the full green light, especially considering how vital his presence was to Cleveland's interior pass rush prior to the injury.
Full participation
- Linebacker Carson Schwesinger (Shoulder)
Only one player was listed as a full participant while carrying an injury designation: reigning Rookie Defensive Player of the Year Carson Schwesinger.
Schwesinger missed a majority of training camp with an undisclosed injury, so seeing his name listed as a full participant with a shoulder issue is a massive relief for the defense.
