When the Browns lost wide receiver KC Concepcion in Week 5, someone was bound to step up. Personally, I expected Jerry Jeudy to see some extra targets. Instead, it was Isaiah Bond who stepped up and played a bigger role in the offense.
ESPN's Daniel Oyefusi was even surprised and discussed the play of Bond in a takeaways piece after Week 5.
He writes, "Isaiah Bond emerged as a top pass catcher after KC Concepcion was ruled out early with a head injury. Bond entered the game with two catches on two targets, but his seven targets Sunday tied for the most on the team. He caught three passes for a team-high 74 yards. However, he also had a critical drop late in the game."
Concepcion posted after the game that he was feeling alright, but the team will
be tracking his progress out of concussion protocol closely. If he were to miss time, it is safe to assume that Bond would be the one to step up and have a larger role once again.
