The Cleveland Browns enjoyed the presence and play of Myles Garrett for nine seasons. When he was traded, Garrett was very graceful and thankful to Cleveland with a full-page ad and a consistent message of thanks. This past weekend, he shared one more message and reaction to all of it.
During a sit-down interview with ESPN, Garrett opened up about his raw reaction to being traded away this offseason to the Los Angeles Rams. When asked to describe the feeling he had when he found out he was being traded:
“Shock? That fact, uh, this actually happened... Joy, disappointment. Yeah, it was a bit of everything. I was joyful for a new opportunity, going to a new place, in which, you know, it's a great football team. A great organization. You know, being
able to challenge for a Super Bowl...walk into a contender team. Disappointment for... the fact that, I feel like I let myself down, as far as, you know, my time in Cleveland, not being able to achieve as much as I wanted to at the team level.”
Garrett's raw reaction and admission that the disappointment won't mean much in hindsight is rare honesty from an athlete. He wanted to win in Cleveland; they couldn't, sadly, but it seems Garrett will be a Brown for life even if he doesn't wear the uniform.
